Presented today are the top 5 Modern legal cards that can be cast without paying any mana cost., without you paying any mana. The ability to cast a spell without paying its cost is one of the most powerful and unexpected things you can do during a game, which is why even though these cards don’t typically see play, I think they have real potential and might be overlooked treasures for deck builders.
I’m only looking at spells which can be cast unexpectedly by alternative means, such as exiling another card from your hand or having certain in game conditions met, so I am not looking at the pacts, most of which already see play, because you do have to pay for them…it’s just a delayed pay….and I won’t be looking at the classic 0 cost artifacts like Ornithopter, Memnite, or of course Mox Opal.
Yeah, there’s a whole deck around these cards, one of the most powerful in all of Modern. Maybe that demonstrates just how powerful not paying mana can be. Hmm….
