For those bemoaning that the Pauper-u-larity of Pauper caused a handful of common cards to spike in price from pennies to dollars, Masters 25 brought us an amazing array of reprints that’ll tank price tags and provide amazing availability.

With reprints like Ash Barrens, Rancor, Ancient Stirrings, Brainstorm, Unearth, Simian Spirit Guide, Lightning Bolt, Counterspell, Utopia Sprawl,

Nettle Sentinel and many, many more, Masters 25 demonstrates that while some commons can sometimes cost 3-4 dollars or even 7-8 each, a single reprint in something like a Masters set or, heaven forbid a block set, will restore balance in our bank accounts. No Oubliette though, so just use the 40 cent oubliette on a stick, Faceless Butcher until we get that reprint.

But Pauper is not a format about low priced cards and decks, the affordability of pauper is just a perk for this Legacy Lite gameplay and wide diversity of interactive decks. Truly, since Masters 25 is a nostalgia set, there is no better nostalgia than helping support Pauper, a format that many describe as feeling like the gameplay of the old days when playing Magic with friends at school.

There are 19 brand new Pauper legal cards in Masters 25, uncommons and even some rares that were printed as commons in this set, and therefore now Pauper legal. 20 new cards is a lot, and A lot of these are really spicy additions with great potential.

Presented here are the Top 5, I was very tempted to do Top 10 but I like the constraint of having to limit myself down to only five, forcing me to really examine and evaluate which cards are really likely to make an impact and why.
